Check out 10 big changes Fall of Light brings to Destiny 2:
10. Urban and cyberpunk adventure
The new expansion brings a new planet to the game, Neptune, and with it an urban scheme, something completely new to Destiny. The adventure takes place in Neonuma, a futuristic mega-city. The narrative will have completely different cyberpunk elements than the sci-fi style seen so far in Destiny 2. The Guardians will find new allies in Neptune, a human colony isolated from the rest of the solar system since the Golden Age. In addition to the heroes, Calus’ Shadow Legion also discovers the new colony.
9. New enemies
The Shadow Legion will receive a new, very powerful unit, second only to the Disciples of the Witness. They are the tormentors, big men equipped with machetes that promise to cause the Guardians plenty of headaches.
8. Hook and vertical movement
Neumona is a big city with neon-lit skyscrapers. To explore the city and go on patrols, players have a grappling grapple, a tool from the new bristle subclass. So expect more vertical navigation and traversal not just in the open world, but on Crucible Maps.
7. Fatal fall damage will be removed
The game will undergo an overhaul of some impact elements, including fatal fall damage. Bungie aims to completely remove this type of deathmatch from the game midway through Fall of Light’s first season. All Guardians who have ever died after falling into the middle of a boss fight say thank you!
6. Sub-threads
Destiny 2 is getting a new subclass for the first time in two years. Threads are a kind of spatial magic that will have different effects on Warlocks, Hunters, and Titans.
- Warlock Broodweaver: Witches of this subclass can summon spiders and send them flying with the new super.
- Titan Berserker: Titans of this class wield dual blades against enemies and grant allies extra shields.
- THREADERNER HUMAN: Uses a javelin that weakens enemies and creates additional climbing points.
5. New progress
Fall of Light brings a new progression and ranking system to Destiny 2, intended to improve entry for new players. Ratings 1-5 cover the basics, while ratings 6-10 are season-specific challenges. However, Rank 11 will be based on recommendations from other players, in an effort to enhance the game’s social element.
4. Changes in the economy
The game economy will be rebuilt, especially the “grinding” of seasons. Instead of collecting many different coins, the player will earn keys to open the chest with treasures. Item crafting will also be improved, all to make the game simpler in these respects, with fewer coins and less random results.
3. Changes to the mod system
One of the most difficult systems in Destiny 2 to decipher, mods will be simplified so that new players can understand and benefit from how they work. There will be no more aligning elements, for example.
2. The difficulty will be raised
Destiny 2 activities will become more challenging, even casual ones like Heists. Each of them will have a power disadvantage, depending on the level of challenge:
- Hero: -5 power levels
- Legendary: -15 power levels
- Master: -20 energy levels
- Grandmaster: -25 power levels
1. “Search by Group” tool?
Since the announcement of the Queda da Luz expansion, players already know that the game will receive an in-game group search tool, which will make the game more social. Instead of opening an app on a cell phone or entering a third-party site to search for mates for a specific activity, the player can click on the “search by group” menu and that’s it. However, this tool will only be available from the final season of Fall of Light.
Destiny 2: Fall of Light comes to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on February 28th.
