Warsaw. The third wave of the epidemic is waiting. “We’re so tired, I’m already dreaming about home calls and bells.”

“Our hospital tour continues” – Paramedics describe the current struggle to find vacancies for COVID-19 patients. Records show that the Warsaw ambulance crew traveled long distances to deliver the patient. On Friday evening, several teams from the capital and its environs lined up in front of the SOR in Snow, 80 kilometers away. Even longer “trips” are becoming commonplace. On average, the Warsaw Emergency Service handles about 800 interventions daily. About 30 to 40 percent of these people are in their 20s to 50s infected with the corona virus. More and more help is being sought for the recovery of Polish medical aircraft.

– During the first and second waves of the epidemic, we thought it could not get worse. The third wave shows that the situation is dramatically more severe – estimates the nurse and paramedic Pave Wunuk from the provincial emergency and health transport station “Meditrans”. In an interview with a reporter, TVN24 explained that the number of calls to people infected with the corona virus was much higher than in previous months. This translates to long stays in ambulance and security cases. – Sometimes we practically do not leave the ambulance on 24-hour duty – he insists.

– This is due to the long working hours in front of hospitals. There are simply no places for the hospital to go with the patient to another place. We go to a hospital several hundred kilometers away. Fortunately, this still happens within our province, i.e. 160-170 kilometers one way, but there are cases like this, says Wunuk. He notes that groups from Warsaw sometimes take patients to Aina, Leipzig, Nov Myosto not Flica, Radom or Sideless.

The only chance for a break is when the vehicle is disinfected and equipment and safety wear are changed. Only then will the rescuers be able to eat something and take care of their physiological needs, Wunuk explains.

The rescuer insists that more and more young people are getting sick these days. These conditions are severe and worsen very rapidly with the British corona virus mutation, he points out.

He also agrees that a person’s condition is important in the decision to be taken to a remote hospital. – We try to carry patients who can survive this way. The medical dispatch office that runs us is doing an excellent job. In agreement with them, we know who can be taken further, who should be brought closer because of their condition, it is not always possible – he adds. – At some point these places end, and there are plays – says Wunuk.

Paramedics also say straight: they are tired and work more hours a week than the average person working full time. – The so-called short duty is with us for 12 hours, the normal duty is 24 hours and the long duty is 36 hours. I can say with confidence that I can have a recovery system in Warsaw that works 80 to 100 hours a week. We are not the rescuers and doctors of the problem, but where it really is – the need to increase and increase the cost of emergency medical services in the form of cars (number – version) Team – Appeals Rafa Sanas, paramedic and medical dispatcher at “Meditarns”.

Sanas says the emergency medical system has changed not only to COVID-19 cases, but also to the clinic’s electro-treatment. In his opinion, doctors often and exaggerately advise patients to call an ambulance during teleportation. – It’s all the time, with anything. The doctors at the clinic carry us as rescuers, unable to cope with normal everyday events such as dizziness, lightheadedness, falling from a height or stab wound. Police officers waited for three hours with the aggressive patient after a recent drug overdose – he says.

– The hard thing is, no one understands us: as a medical emergency, we have to go to the emergency. If you want to free us, it is necessary to think about creating only Govt ambulances. We need to increase spending on ambulances and medical guards. No one noticed it, and the epidemic has been going on for a year now, says Sanas.

Life expectancy also describes how fatigue can affect everyone. – As soon as I hung up the phone, I had another phone. It makes me wake up at night. Tonight I suddenly jumped up because I was determined to get out. We’re already tired, I’m already dreaming about phone calls and outgoing bells – says Sanas. – This is us, the rescued, breaking this mountain, and if no one notices it, it will fall. We are the beginning of the third wave – he insists.
