For the first time in the history of Centro Hospitalar do Médio Tejo (CHMT), a Christmas party will be held for the three units outside the Foundation’s hospitals, with the event “Christmas in CHMT Hospitals – Health is the Best Gift”.
The event will take place on December 20, between 2pm and 6pm, in the auditorium of the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar and will also be broadcast live from the CHMT Youtube page.

On this festive afternoon, the entire community unites to offer warmth and hope to the patients who have been admitted to CHMT and their families and also to the health professionals who have dedicated their lives to caring for the people of the Middle Tagus.
Therefore, 15 municipalities of the region have joined this institution and will parade on the stage of the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar, offering songs, dance, theater, magic and traditions that give encouragement and strength to those who cannot spend this court with your loved ones to recover your health in the hospital.
Sickness during the Christmas season brings great suffering to all those who, on account of their hospitalization, are prevented from being at home and with their families. But also for their family members, who have to face an empty seat at the Christmas Eve table and deal with caring for the health of their loved ones.
It is also a paradoxical time for health professionals, who are often on duty on this very special date, having to give up their presence with their families, to be in the hospital in the service of others.
Aware that Christmas is a time of deep feelings, but also a time of hope, rebirth and reunion – which has long been required due to the epidemiological context of the past two years -, the Board of Directors of Centro Hospitalar do Médio Tejo (CHMT), made up of units of the Hospital Abrantes, Tomar, and Torres Novas, gathered the entire community to provide patients, their families, and health professionals with an afternoon where illness doesn’t ruin the party.
For the first time in the history of CHMT, a Christmas party will be held at Abrantes, Tomar and Torres Novas Hospital units outside the Foundation Hospitals, with the event “Christmas at CHMT Hospitals – Health is the Best Gift”.
The event will take place on Tuesday, December 20, between 2 pm and 6 pm, in the auditorium of the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar. This birthday party will also be broadcast live flowfrom the CHMT Youtube page, so that those who are physically unable to attend can witness this moment of celebration of the Christmas season.
This is an initiative stemming from a proposal by the CHMT Humanization Committee, which deserves unconditional support since the beginning of the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar. This educational institution, which is considered a reference in the Central Tagus region, has provided its facilities and all the necessary technical and logistical support to achieve it.
Christmas is synonymous with union and family, and the 15 municipalities served by CHMT did not hesitate to be at CHMT’s side on this very special occasion, offering them a very special gift: an afternoon different, of closeness and affection, full of vitality. Performances by groups of various groups and groups, from music to theater, including magic. Thus it will be possible to bring the glow of Christmas to those who are more fragile and to those who dedicate their lives to caring for the disease. Free admission.
