The Villarrica volcano, in La Araucanía, Chile, which is one of the largest volcanoes in the world, showed signs of imminent eruption last Thursday, and experts detected “greater intensity and height of the flare”, which ranged between 80 and 220 meters above the level. From the crater – a few days ago it was possible to fly over the volcano and a large lava lake was recorded, reaching 1043 degrees. High seismic activity was also detected. Chile’s National Geology and Mining Service (SERNAJUMEN) has already raised the situation to a yellow alert.

In any case, experts from the Chilean government explained the possibility of an eruption. According to SERNAJOMIN, “Small explosions are expected within the crater whose impact is limited to the area near the crater.”
