The Secretariat of Health promotes the 14th edition of the Scientific Scholarship Day – Rio de Janeiro City Hall

This Friday (November 25), the fourteenth edition of the Scientific Journey for scholarship students was held. JCAB is an initiative of the Non-Compulsory Scholarship Training, Department of Municipal Health (SMS-Rio), in which top-level students have the opportunity to participate in a conference governed by a committee and an ethics committee. This event, which has been active for 14 years, promotes a wide area not only within what corresponds to the academic environment, but mainly around the topic of public health in practice.

The theme of this edition, “Scientific Scholar: SUS Expanding Training Horizons,” reflects on the more than 130 scholarship holders who passed through the auditorium of the São Sebastião Administrative Center on Friday. At the opening of the event, representatives of the Research Ethics Committee, Personnel Management Coordination, Hospital Care Agents, ER and ER were present. Each intern is orientated to one of the city’s ten program areas, defining their own unit of work which varies depending on their course. Interns, divided into categories of Primary Care, Social Communication, Health Monitoring, Zoonosis, Mental Health and Hospital Care, undergo eight months of training, with a reference supervisor throughout.

Pedro Gayoso, 29, is a psychology student at the Federal University of Fluminense (UFF) and worked at CAPSi Maurício de Souza, where he developed his research “From CAPSi II to CAPSi III: Transformation and Care-Building in Attention to a Mental Health Crisis”.

– This is my second year as a scholarship researcher, and this time around, I wanted to embrace CAPSi, and understand a little more how its relationship, its users and its professionals, takes place in a context within psychosocial templates. What inspired me was trying to get out of my comfort zone and the privacy of CAPSi, which is aimed at kids and teens. I really like the Scholarship Scholar model, and I think we have succeeded in being on the grid, with really embracing professionals. We are obviously watching, but we are free to work alongside the team and that is very important for those of us who are in the process of training, understanding ourselves there as future professionals. It is this space of exchange, which gives so much to the encounter, that we see is not a one-way street.

Samara Shih, 24, is a nursing student at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO) and worked at the local Manuel José Ferreira Health Center. Her research yields “reflections on experience in the nursing office as a scholarship scientist in primary care.”

– During the training period, I noticed that many patients, when we came to the office and introduced ourselves as the nurses responsible for the consultation, sometimes wondered: “I thought I was going to have a medical consultation.” Therefore, they still do not fully understand the importance of nursing consultation. My work also speaks a little bit about the opportunity to do this internship during the pandemic, because many students have had these demands suppressed during this period due to the closure of practical areas. Therefore, it was very important because I experienced things that many colleagues could not experience. I think that adds as an experience and as a technology, because we didn’t just stay in counseling. I did procedures, things college can’t offer sometimes, there was no lab for me to do, and here I was doing it in practice, and in return, I gained knowledge.

Academic trip

Associated with the Scholarship Academic Training Program, The Academic Journey takes place at the end of the year and orients higher education students from all fields who, in partnership with partner institutions, teachers, supervisors, and their Study Centers, simulate the Training Course Completion Counter (TCC) to offer an internship completion (TCE), judged It specializes in professional courses related to the SMS itself and its moderators. There are two distinct categories of presentations, with the option to use banner or slides. The six finalists will have the opportunity to participate in a special ceremony in early 2023 and their research will be published in the Official Journal of Rio.
