Famous young wizard Harry Potter, J.K. As part of the 25th anniversary celebrations of the publication of the first book in Rowling’s saga, it has been announced that he will appear in a coin collection in the UK.
“To commemorate the 25th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the Royal Mint is launching an enchanting collection of coins,” the British mints of coins and banknotes said in a statement.
The collection includes four pieces, including a map of Harry Potter, but also the Hogwarts Express train, Professor Albus Dumbledore and the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
According to the Royal Mint, the pieces include an optical effect that mimics the impact of a “lightning bolt” when rotated in front of light.
This effect is created with a state-of-the-art laser that gives the coins a “magical” look, but protects and authenticates them.
Published in 1997, the seven-volume series chronicles the adventures of Harry Potter, a young wizard at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and his struggle against Lord Voldemort, a dark wizard seeking immortality.
Saga’s book sales are in the hundreds of millions of euros, while the eight films have grossed billions of euros.
Among the collection coins revealed by the Royal Mint are two illustrated coins with portraits of Queen Elizabeth II, who died in September, and two coins with the official portrait of King Charles III.
