The Sustainable Health Award jury awarded the Personality Award to Delfim Rodrigues, who is responsible for home hospitalization in NHS hospitals, in recognition of his career spanning more than four decades in health administration.
This honor was delivered Wednesday during the Sustainable Health Awards Ceremony, initiated by Negócios in partnership with Sanofi.
Born on January 5, 1954, Delfim Rodrigues graduated in law and was a lawyer between 1975 and 78, when he decided to take a postgraduate course in hospital management. In 1980, he became hospital director at Hospitais Civis de Lisboa, managing the seven units located in Lisbon.
In 1984, he joined the management of the Hospital de Guimarães. Between 1985 and 1987, he taught public health at the University of Minnesota on a Fulbright Fellowship.
In 1987, by means of an international public competition, he was named representative of Southern Europe in Fulbright’s Hubert Humphrey programme. He trained in companies, hospitals, and other health organizations in the United States and Canada and was awarded by Ronald Reagan, former US President.
On his return to Portugal, he was Regional Director of Northern Health Facilities and Equipment, and General Director of Hospitals (1990-1992) and Health (1993-1994).
It is affiliated with the Presidency of the Lisbon Region and the Tagus Valley Health Region. He then became a Special Director at the Gália Group and at the British Hospital and BH XXI Hospitals of the BPN Group.
Subsequently, he was President of Centro Hospitalar do Alto Ave, and in 2018, he was appointed in charge of home hospitalization units in NHS hospitals.
