The fourth edition of the event will include “animal adoption spaces, agility demonstrations, face painting, cartoonist and illustrator”
The well-being and health of the four-legged friends of Seixal are once again celebrated, with a party to be held next weekend, October 8 and 9, at Parque Municipal do Serrado, in Amora.
Coming back to its ‘fourth edition’, the Animal Welfare Festival will be held on both days from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm, with free admission to ‘We welcome pets’.
Animal adoption spaces, agility demonstrations [agilidade]face painting, cartoonist and rubber bands are some of the activities and attractions available to (two legged and four legged) visitors, Seixal City Council explains in a statement.
According to Paulo Silva, mayor of the municipality, quoted in the same memo, “The city council has developed a great deal of work in favor of animal welfare.”
In this context, we emphasize that for more than 15 years, the municipality has had an unprecedented position not to slaughter animals due to overcrowding, a measure that was applied even before it became law in 2016.
He adds that responsible adoption of animals, which we encourage, is essential to the success of this policy.” The PSP and GNR will also be present at the event, as “security forces will announce some of their vehicles.”
Organized by the municipality of Seixal, and “integrated into the celebrations of World Animal Day, which is celebrated tomorrow”, the Animal Welfare Festival will also be prepared for “children to experience riding on GNR horses and interacting with teams made up of police and military and their dogs”.
The celebration “aims at people of all ages and aims to raise awareness of issues related to social and legal responsibilities in the welfare and health of animals. It also has the function of raising awareness of issues such as responsible adoption and the role of companion animals in our society.”
