Hortolândia constantly enhances activities to rehabilitate the health teams. Work is important to improve service to the population. The city council provided leprosy training to the team at UBS (Basic Health Unit) Nova Europa, on Monday (08/01).
The training, which was carried out by the Epidemiological Surveillance Authority, one of the members of the Health Department, taught how to collect lymph, a substance found in the human body. The exam is complementary to the diagnosis of the disease. Leprosy is a curable, chronic infectious disease that affects the skin and nerves. Among the main symptoms are the appearance of spots on the skin (white, red, brown or brown) (take photo)with a change in sensitivity or numbness.
With the appearance of the first symptoms, which can take from two to five years, starting treatment as soon as the first signs appear ensures a complete recovery of the patient, without sequelae. Treatment is free and available throughout the country’s public health network. According to the agency, the disease situation in the city is under control, with six patients undergoing treatment and 30 under follow-up. Also, according to the epidemiological surveillance, training is provided as per the request of the health units.
