LIs Truss, the favorite in the race to replace British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, said she would be Ukraine’s “best friend” if she wins.
“As prime minister, I will be a close friend of Ukraine – following in Boris Johnson’s footsteps – and Putin will suffer a strategic defeat in Ukraine, and I will be fully committed to ensuring that Russia remains contained in the future.” In a statement, the current foreign minister promised more sanctions on those close to the Russian president and more arms and humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
“This conflict is in the balance and now is not the time for polls about concessions and compromises with a terrible dictator… I am the candidate the British people can trust in Ukraine, and who they can trust to defend our freedoms at home and abroad,” he added.
