The local health unit of Baixo Alentejo has plans for deployment initiatives that include the presence of a mobile vehicle, provided by the Portuguese Institute for Sports and Youth, in a central area of the cities of Évora and Beja and also in Morao and Viana do Alentejo.
The mobile car, in Beja, will be located between the pharmacy “Pacheco” and the Jardim do Bacalhau, on July 27 and 28, between 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
These activities aim to increase literacy among the general population in the field of viral hepatitis, disseminate information on symptoms, methods of transmission and prevention, as well as conduct examinations.
The times and location of Évora and Beja CADs, for quick tests, information leaflets and awareness materials on the importance of condom use, as well as the distribution of protective materials (male and female condoms and lubricating gel) will also be published.
In 2010, the World Health Organization (WHO) established July 28 as World Viral Hepatitis Day. Since then, there have been global goals, set by the above institutions, and national goals, depending on the specific characteristics of each country and the level of health care in it.
