Miguel Ribeiro, President of Famalicão, spoke at a training day open to the media and fans, about Pedro Gonçalves, the Sporting player whose Famalicão logo still holds half of the pass (“Black” bought the other half for 6.5 million euros).
Any chance of negotiating Pedro Gonçalves’ pass part? “This is a complicated issue, because it doesn’t depend on us. Famalicao has 50 per cent of Pedro Gonçalves’ pass. He’s probably the best player to play in Portugal, so it’s a very important element for Famalecao. Time will give that answer. But if you ask me if we are convinced that it will be the greatest A match in Famalicao’s history, I have no doubts about that.”
Interested in trading? “No. I’m interested in Pote having a good season, mainly for him, because he’s a player of great value, and he’s added so much to Famalicão. He will always be the first ‘Made in Famalicão’ and that suggests Pote will always carry him and we’re proud of that. That’s what really gives me Confidence and comfort: that he is doing well, that his career is going well. The rest will also be a result, because our calm, from a financial point of view, it also allows us today not to rush or be exposed to these kinds of processes.”
