Paula – Brentford invests €38 million in Hickey and Lewis-Potter (England)

Scotsman Aaron Hickey, 20, former Bologna, left-back in the 2021/22 Serie A season, and England left winger Ken Lewis Potter, 21, one of the champions for three seasons (since 2019/20) at Hull City, from the Championship (English second tier), were officially announced on Wednesday as reinforcements for Brentford, with a total investment of €38 million.

Hickey appeared in Hearts (Scotland) and at the age of 16 played in a cup final for his country – a record in the competition – after scoring his first goal for Midlothian in the domestic derby against Hibernian.

The full-back confirmed himself as a key player in the Scottish first team in 2019/20, the year he was allegedly in Bayern Munich’s considerations, first. Lyon and Aston Villa. But it was Bologna, two years ago, that signed it,

In his ‘Calcio’ debut, in 2020/21 Hickey played quite a few matches, as a result of injuries and the Covid-19 virus. But in 2021/22, under Sinisa Mihajlovic, it was a discovery for the team: 35 Serie A games, with five goals scored (plus one assist).

Now, Hickey – who can also play on the right wing and fight for first place in the Scottish national team with Andy Robertson – returns to the UK: ‘Bees’ (Brentford) paid £14.85m (€17.6m) to the Italian club and the Italian club depends on the player. For four seasons (contract until June 30, 2026).

21-year-old Ken Lewis Potter signed with the London team for six years, until June 2028, with Hull City spending 17.1 million pounds (20.27 million euros) to sell the sporting rights of the young player, in which he played in three seasons. 122 games for the club, with an impressive 30 goals and nine assists in his respected track record, which already includes four appearances for the England Under-21 national team (one goal).
