For users who want more control, the company has its own RAW Expert app, which packs a comprehensive set of in-camera editing tools to deliver a DSLR-like experience. The app debuted last year with Galaxy s 21 Ultra ahead of appearing on all Galaxy S22 series devices as well as the Z Fold3 this year. The application must have arrived Galaxy S20 super, Note 20 Ultra and Z Fold2 until the end of June, but that didn’t happen. The Korean giant has now explained the reason for the delay, simultaneously announcing two new features for Expert RAW.
In a post on your korean community forums (Across XDA), the director of the cameras department said that his team encountered problems during the final verification tests to support RAW experts in Galaxy S20 Ultraand Note20 Ultra and Z Fold2. As the developers work on these verification issues, the team decided to hold off adding Expert RAW support for older devices, hoping to include it in a major update to the camera system in September.
When Expert RAW arrives on Galaxy S20 UltraHowever, the app will not be able to support the telephoto camera – only the 108MP primary camera and 12MP ultra-wide. This is because the 10x pop-up lens cannot output RAW Bayer images, which is what the app requires.
On the plus side, Samsung has updated Expert RAW with two useful new features. One is the ability to save custom camera settings as a preset so you can quickly switch to them the next time you’re in the right conditions for those settings. The other option is an additional image saving option that will allow users to record in a single file format instead of the now required dual RAW and JPEG recording.
The update is not yet Alive In the Galaxy Store, but it should be released in the next few days.
