The province of Araucaria, as well as other Brazilian municipalities, are receiving vaccine doses as well as tests for the COVID-19 virus from the Ministry of Health. However, information was received this week about the scarcity of rapid antigen tests, and therefore, the federal government has to send fewer tests to municipalities, as reported to the city council through Njuta.
With this, it will be necessary to implement another testing strategy against Covid-19 and the changes will come into effect from tomorrow.
To avoid a lack of quick tests, the city council is already organizing itself to start a bidding process that makes it possible to purchase the tests in larger numbers. However, since Covid-19 no longer constitutes a public health emergency, the municipality cannot carry out this type of procurement on an emergency basis, that is, legal deadlines must be met.
With that said, starting tomorrow, only moderate/severe cases (persistent symptoms) will be tested. On the other hand, mild cases should undergo a medical consultation, and then be isolated for 7 days.
Pregnant, newborn and postpartum women up to 45 days after childbirth, if they develop flu-like symptoms, will continue to be treated and tested at Araucaria Municipal Hospital.
Health also directs the preventive care that must be maintained, such as proper hygiene and the use of gel alcohol.
