This is the conclusion of this study.
For many people, showering more than once a day is common. But a study from the University of Utah in the United States found that this habit may not be beneficial for health.
The researchers say that “more than one bath per day can disrupt the skin’s microbial ecosystem.”
The skin is the main means of protecting our bodies from disease, and with this organ affected, we are more vulnerable. The investigation also found that “even with just one bath, but using a sponge every day, the harmful effect is the same.”
“The problem is trying to clean the skin too much, as we end up directly affecting the bacteria that live in our bodies and help the immune system and tissue preservation,” they add.
Even with the heat, scientists recommend showering only once a day, and limiting deep exfoliation to once a week. The researchers concluded that “in the name of it, it is sufficient to use a neutral soap in circular motions.”
