Apple’s new AR/VR headset is only supposed to arrive in early 2023, but there are many rumors circulating about this product that could be innovative and launch a new path for the brand.
Mark Gurman, from Bloomberg, revealed that the device could arrive with an M2 chip, in the basic version, and paired with 16GB of RAM.
Apple AR / VR headset: processor and RAM revealed
Mark Gorman, a journalist at Bloomberg, is known for providing reliable information about Apple products before they were launched. The now-known reporter has revealed some of the specs we can expect to see on Cupertino’s AR/VR headset.
According to Gurman, the device in its basic version may include the company’s M2 processor, as well as 16 GB of RAM. If this information is confirmed, we may encounter equipment with a great deal of performance power.
Other sources have also developed that although this headset is similar in appearance to existing equipment of the type already available, Apple wants users to be able to see their surroundings, without removing the device from their heads.
For this, the device will have built-in cameras – some rumors say it will be 15 sensors – and with just the touch of a dedicated button, the user can see everything that surrounds him in reality.
From the information now released by Mark Gorman we can also conclude that this would be an expensive piece of equipment. Suffice it to say that a laptop MacBook Air with similar characteristics can be priced at about 1325 euros. Considering that the Apple headset also contains other expensive components, its cost to the end user can reach about 3000 dollars, which is more than 2800 euros.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s predictions are slightly different
But Mark Gorman’s latest revelations differ slightly from the predictions of analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known analyst who can also rely on Apple’s discoveries.
According to the analyst, Apple’s A/VR headset will have a dual processor configuration, with one chip having similar features to the M1 while the secondary chip will be less powerful and will be dedicated to processing data from the device’s built-in sensors.
The same source also advances that the device will also integrate two 4K Micro-OLED displays, 15 optical sensors, gesture control, and a new operating system called RealityOS, among other “treats”.
Other predictions suggest that Apple will present a new headset at an event in January 2023, and it will be the first time the Cupertino company has chosen the first month of the year to disclose.
