Last week, we held Azure Hybrid, Multicloud, and Edge Day Among a series of news, we announce the general availability of Azure Machine Learning for Hybrid and Multicloud Deployments With Azure Arc. You can now build, train, and deploy your own machine learning models right where the data resides, as well as on your hardware and IoT devices.
When I talk to customers, one of the things I hear a lot is how new cloud-based applications are driving business. As these new applications are created, they need to take full advantage of the speed, efficiency, and innovation speed that the cloud enables. However, not all the applications and infrastructure that runs can actually reside in the cloud. That’s why 93% of companies commit to hybrid deployments of their workloads In the workplace (local), multi-cloud and edge.1
With Azure, we serve you wherever you are, so you can innovate anywhere. The Azure cloud platform helps you bring new solutions to life – to solve current challenges and create the future. a Azure Ark A bridge that extends the Azure platform so that you can build applications and services with the flexibility to run in multiple datacenter, edge, and cloud environments.
Azure Arc provides a consistent development, operations, and security model for new and existing applications. Our customers use it to revolutionize their businesses, whether on hardware platforms, virtualization and Kubernetes, IoT devices or embedded systems.
I’m constantly amazed at the way people are using Azure and Azure Arc to create innovative solutions while overcoming long-term security and governance challenges.
John Deere brings the benefits of modern cloud to on-premises and sophisticated environments with hybrid data services
John Deere’s iconic green and yellow tractors are a common sight in fields around the world. With a comprehensive technology suite spanning across cloud platforms, on-premises data centers, and high-end factory hardware, John Deere’s modernization strategy makes the most of its assets while making a way into the future.
Together with a managed instance of SQL that supports Azure Arc, John Deere helps connect the points across these environments and puts the power of the cloud to work on the company’s existing infrastructure. Results? A unified view of operations across platforms running on Azure Arc, helping John Deere streamline his manufacturing processes. Combined with a managed SQL instance enabled by Azure Arc, the John Deere hybrid solution helps reduce operational costs and accelerate innovation.
Another opportunity provided by the cloud is to transform data insights into new products and services. For years, Azure has provided machine learning and IoT solutions to unlock signals and data from the physical world. Azure Arc combines Azure data services like SQL, PostgreSQL, and Machine Learning so you can benefit from insights from data, from the edge to the cloud, with a complete solution from on-premises data collection, computation, storage, and real-time analysis.
We announced it recently Managed Business Critical SQL Instance with Azure Arc General Availability Income. The SQL Managed Business Critical Layer managed by Azure Arc is designed for mission-critical workloads that demand the highest levels of performance, high availability, and security. The Azure Arc-enabled managed SQL instance is built from familiar Azure SQL, which is always up-to-date and has no end of support date.
Wolverine Worldwide analyzes sensitive data in the local environment to improve your supply chain
Wolverine Worldwide owns very popular active and lifestyle apparel brands such as Chaco, Saucony, Merrell, Keds, Sperry and more. When the pandemic created a new set of unexpected supply chain challenges across the global economy, Wolverine turned to cloud innovation to help its 13 brands.
Previously, data analysis was a bit difficult. It was a gut feeling to make the decision, with opportunities passing as we did our analysis. With Azure Arc, Wolverine can use data and data services from Azure to comprehensively analyze supply chain, manufacturing, and e-commerce data while keeping data confidential in the on-premises environment. “– Jason Miller, Vice President of Business Data, Planning and Analytics, Wolverine Global
Whether you want to secure and manage servers, or create a self-service experience on VMware from Azure, Azure Arc is validated across a variety of infrastructures so you can always run your applications and data where you need them.
Companies can start with Azure Stack HCI support for single node clusters, which is entering public availability, to ensure flexibility to deploy Azure Stack HCI in smaller spaces and with fewer processing needs. In addition, today we are announcing that the Windows Admin Center can now Manage servers that support Azure Arc and Azure Stack HCI clusters Directly in the Azure portal. With this functionality, you can securely manage your Azure servers and clusters – without the need for a VPN, public IP address, or other internal connection to your device.
Gerges updates security and its operations
A UK bakery and cafe with over 2,200 retail outlets, Greggs is another customer using management and security tools that power Azure Arc. The company needed to see its digital assets, from local Windows servers to Kubernetes running on AKS.
“By deploying Azure Arc, we can use Microsoft Defender for Cloud to own our server in the on-premises environment, something we haven’t been able to do before. We gain significant security benefits – such as security risk score, compliance score, and other assessments. Central log aggregation shows us what If a security event is already happening on multiple devices so we can identify possible causes.”— Scott Kleinel, Head of Infrastructure and Networks at Greggs
For customers like Greggs, we continue to innovate on servers that support Azure Arc. We recently announced it Support for Azure Arc-enabled servers for private endpointsNew one Server Monitor Classifier Created in the Azure Monitor GitHub public repository, plus file preview SSH access to servers that support Azure Arc.
With Azure Arc, today you can access a comprehensive suite of Azure services such as Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Microsoft Sentinel, Azure Policy, Azure Monitor, and more to protect and manage resources and data on the go.
Millennium bcp simplifies multicloud application deployments with Azure Arc
“We needed… the ability to move the workload running on an Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) cluster to a Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services cluster, or vice versa, in an emergency. We needed something that could help us turn it into a Enterprise level service. That’s where Azure Arc came in.”– Nuno Guedes, Cloud Computing Lead at Millennium bcp
Millennium bcp is the largest private bank in Portugal and has used Azure Arc for a standard approach to deploying containers in its multicloud environment. Azure Arc helps companies like Millennium build and update cloud-native applications on any Kubernetes using familiar developer tools like Visual Studio Code and GitHub, as well as implement consistent GitOps and policy-based deployments in their environments.
To support the development of our customers’ applications, we recently announced GitOps with Flux v2 For AKS and Kubernetes supporting Azure Arc, the general availability of An open service network that supports Arcgeneral availability Azure Key Vault Secrets Provider Extension it’s the Landing Zone Accelerator For Kubernetes Enabled for Azure Arc.
Finally, a big thank you to our partners and customers in the Azure Arc community. We hope you enjoy the event and learn how Azure Ark It can benefit your organization. We look forward to reaching out and hearing your feedback.
