On Monday, the Cityzens Giving Young Leaders Summit 2022, presented by Etihad Airways, kicked off on Monday.
Young leaders participated in football sessions on mental health, nutrition and wellness, led by City in the Community coaches.
Physical and mental health is a pressing issue facing young people around the world today, and young leaders are using the power of football to promote healthier and more active lifestyles, mental well-being, respect and inclusion in their communities.
“The first day was very good and challenging,” said Violka, a young leader from Philadelphia. “We learned some skills and techniques that we can incorporate into our programmes, regardless of the resources available. We shared ideas and discussed mental health, nutrition, and the importance of giving a voice to everyone.”
Joel, from Washington, DC added: “I loved that all the games and activities included teamwork and helped us build on each other’s ideas. We learned three different activities from other institutions, so it was great to expand my activity bank to bring back to the kids in DC.”
In the afternoon, the group toured the Etihad Stadium and had the opportunity to hit the pitch at the home of the 21/22 Premier League champions!
