In the two suspected cases of monkeypox investigated by the Ministry of Health of Minas Gerais, the patients were not outside Brazil. In Oberlandia, a man has died and in Ityotapa another patient is isolated at home.
The state secretariat informed that, in addition to cases with no history of displacement or travel abroad, “among the people who had close contact with them, there are still no asymptomatic cases.”
The state health departments and the municipalities of health, as well as the health departments (SRS) in the regions of Oberlandia and Ityotapa, are also monitoring communications and making necessary recommendations for both suspects.
A state memo concluded that “other data related to the cases will not be disclosed in order to preserve the privacy and individuality of patients, in accordance with the General Law on Personal Data Protection (LGDP)”.

Uberlndia had its first suspicious case, in which a 41-year-old criminal police officer was taken to a private hospital in the city, where he was living, and died last Saturday (11/6). He worked in Araguri.
On Monday (13/6), the Health Secretariat of the State of Minas Gerais confirmed that it had received notification of the second suspected case of smallpox, now in Ityotapa. The man developed some symptoms of illness and sought care last Sunday (12/6) at the Municipal Emergency Care Unit in Itoyota (Obame). The municipal health department reported that he is in good health and is in isolation at home.
In Brazil, two So Paulo (SP) patients and one Porto Alegre patient have been confirmed to have a so-called Monkeypox.
