a Britain’s Minister for Technology and Digital Economy Chris Pape has dismissed an investigation into allegations that Carrie Johnson, the wife of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, threw a party with friends to celebrate her husband’s birthday at the apartment they live in Downing Street, breaking rules imposed in the context of the Covid epidemic – 19. And the party is not part of the investigation conducted by the well-known detective Sue Gray last week.
Chris Pep says there has been an “incredibly thorough investigative body” in the past six months and rules out the possibility of a further investigation into this alleged party.
“After two separate investigations, including by the police, conducted over a period of several months, it is not immediately clear that we need further investigations when this is perhaps the most investigated group of incidents in recent times,” he said. In statements to Sky News.
The British governor also said he had “no internal knowledge” of the alleged incident.
It is noteworthy that, over the weekend, the Sunday Times reported that Simon Case’s office, which is responsible for responding to the pandemic, had received information that letters indicated that Boris Johnson’s wife had arranged a meeting, on June 19, 2020, to celebrate. Her husband’s 56th birthday – a birthday party parallel to the one who paid the British Prime Minister a fine.
The event had not been previously announced and was not part of the investigation published by Sue Gray, who is the second permanent secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, who has been responsible for investigating controversial parties in Downing Street.
The messages show that a Downing Street aide told Carrie Johnson that her husband was on his way to the apartment on her birthday, to which Carrie replied that she was already there with some friends. So Jae was reportedly informed of these messages in January, but nothing happened.
Accusations of government interference in the report are now emerging.
