The seventh StartUp Braga accelerator program ended Thursday, May 26 with the announcement of the winner, Iplexmed, a health technology startup, which was created by six researchers from Minho University and the Iberian International Nanotechnology Laboratory. In this session, which took place during the economic week in Braga, one of the InvestBraga institutions along with this prize of 20 thousand euros was awarded to the winning startup, the remaining prizes for startups from Microsoft.
Bruno Almeida, CEO and co-founder of Iplexmed, a startup that has also won the Empreender @ Braga pre-accelerator program, said. This business is developing the next generation of rapid, portable, pluggable, laboratory-quality anytime, anywhere genetic diagnostic devices to support healthcare. With support from Altice, the Iplexmed team will also have access to the Innovation Center Incubation Program.
This seventh accelerator program was developed over a four-month period, and selected startups had the opportunity to work with mentors, coaches and specialists associated with the InvestBraga Innovation Hub. With 53 applications from different geographies, the program had 12 startups selected, although only 9 made it to the end. The startups participating in the program work in areas such as the digital economy, biotechnology, and health technologies.
