Zelensky’s coat sold at auction for €105,000
The event was held at the Tate Modern in London and the money raised will support the Ukrainian resistance.
It has become the hallmark of the Ukrainian president since, at the end of February, he saw his country invaded by Russian military forces. Volodymyr Zelensky replaced his jacket and tie with military green polar fleece and the uniform went around the world.
This fame has now amounted to at least 105 thousand euros in financial aid to the Ukrainian people, who continue to resist the Russian invasion. It all happened at the auction organized by the Ukrainian Embassy in the UK on Friday 6 May.
The coat that Zelensky wore was the star of the auction which saw the presentation of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who gave a speech via video. “Whether you bid for Volodymyr’s coat – a deal starting at €58,000 and I want higher bids – or a guided tour of Kyiv given by President Klitschko, it’s worth it,” he noted.
“Support Ukraine tonight, my friends, so that the great European capital of Kyiv is not threatened again, so that Ukraine is once again united and free.”
