RTP said the Garcia de Orta hospital in Almada was hit by a computer attack. The situation was also confirmed to the public by the hospital unit press office.
“Hospital García de Orta confirms that it was the target of a computer attack this evening and that it immediately activated the security protocol, contacting the National Center for Cyber Security (CNCS) which is already monitoring the situation,” the unit says.
Biblico emphasized that the judicial police are also monitoring the situation.
The same official source adds that the hospital is “doing its utmost to minimize the impact of this attack and resolve the situation as soon as possible.”
According to Rádio Renascença, consultations and surgeries are performed in a conditional manner. The radio itself stated that the hospital does not receive patients referred from other units due to the situation.
Elements of the Ministry of Health’s joint services are on site for situation assessment, RR and RTP.
The public contacted a source from the joint services of the Ministry of Health, who referred him to García de Orta Hospital.
This is the second time that Almada Hospital has been subjected to a cyber attack. The first happened in late 2016.
