The campaign will have doses against influenza and Covid-19, as well as the triple virus for health professionals
The Amazonas government, through the Fundação Universidade Aberta da Terceira Idade (FUnATI), in partnership with the Municipality of Manaus, has started the Multiple Vaccination Week to update the vaccination schedule for the elderly. The event takes place from today (25/04) to Friday (29/04), from 8 am to noon, at the FUnATI Geriatric Clinic, located on Avenida Brasil, 11.430, Santo Antônio neighborhood.
During the week, doses will be available against influenza (the flu), and a third booster dose against COVID-19. In addition to the elderly, doses of the triple virus (measles, rubella and mumps) and the third dose of Covid-19 will also be available to health professionals.
The president of FUnATI, Euler Ribeiro, took advantage of the campaign to take a flu shot and encourage vaccination among the elderly. He highlighted the importance of influenza vaccination during the rainy season in the Amazon region.
“First, I would like to thank City Hall for this partnership with FUnATI, so that we can really encourage people over 60 to protect themselves, because a vaccine is a prevention of diseases that are transmitted by virus, bacteria or fungi,” said the Dean. All vaccinations, but this task force is on influenza, because influenza is a risk for older adults.”
Gilberto Gomez, a 68-year-old FUNATI Coral student, took advantage of the first day of the campaign to secure a flu shot.
“We, the students, are here every day, so I think it’s a very good business, because here we take all the doses and complete the course of vaccination. And you don’t have that excuse to say you won’t take it because it’s far away, because you don’t know where it is. That’s how it gets here, And he does everything, and is still engaged in activities,” said the student.
Health professionals who are able to take thd virus can also look for FUNaTI to ensure immunization. The institution’s geriatric clinic coordinator, Fanosa Nascimento, received the MMR doses and highlighted the documents required for the available vaccinations.
“It is important to bring an official document containing the CPF photo and the Covid-19 vaccination card itself, so we can do all this updating. The coordinator confirmed that we will have campaign staff from 8am to noon, Monday through Friday.
