The municipality of Montemore-au-Velho refused to transfer competencies in the health field, considering that the amount proposed by the Ministry of Health was insufficient.

The executive branch of the municipality of Montemore or Filho decided, unanimously, at its meeting today, to refuse the transfer of competencies in the field of health.

“We cannot agree to this transfer of competencies without ensuring that the resources are sufficient to ensure a high-quality service to the citizens,” Emilio Torio, the mayor of Montemore or Filho, told Lusa.

The municipality of Montemore-o-Velho, Coimbra Province, said it has conducted a survey of the property preservation status of local health units, their equipment, human resources in the category of operational assistant, and energy consumption. , among other factors.

Given the property’s physical conditions, among other circumstances, the “proposed values ​​now” are “below real needs,” the municipality says, in a press release sent to the Lusa Agency.

“At this moment, the conditions have not been met for the municipality of Montemor-o-Velho to accept the transfer of the exercise of health competencies,” the mayor stressed.

For the municipality of the village of Baixo Mondego, the values ​​\u200b\u200bthat give rise to “precaution and opposition” relate to the management, maintenance and maintenance of non-medical equipment, a constant value of €345.48 per annum.

This is an amount that proves to be “incompatible with actual need”, because in the transfer report proposal it lists a large set of equipment, including indication, by the Regional Health Administration (ARS) of the center, for 22 pieces of equipment to be repaired or in obsolete condition. time.

“The amount reserved for the management, maintenance and maintenance of the property is about 35,000 euros, when the needs survey conducted by the municipality, at this level, in 2019 amounted to nearly 370,000 euros, taking into account the severe deterioration of most of the buildings in which the local health units operate. “, as stated in the statement.

The mayor added that the municipality is committed and cooperating in “finding solutions that increase the provision of health care in the municipality.”

Emilio Torio concluded that “the position we have taken today at the Chamber meeting” follows “the decision of the international community (CIM) in the Coimbra region, which underlines the need for clarification on this process”.
