Algarve will receive the first Collaborative Laboratory (CoLAB) in the health field that unites the many entities in Loulé.
The title was awarded to ABC CoLAB, dedicated to the study and delivery of integrated solutions for aging and rejuvenation.
The purpose of this laboratory developed by ABC Algarve, includes the promotion of research and knowledge that allows the assessment and development of active and healthy aging, and the adaptation of priorities and type of responses in the areas of health, social work, education and training throughout life, work and life. Cultural and civic participation depends on the territory and the needs and dynamics of the population.
ABC CoLAB also intends to promote and accelerate research in the field of aging, by creating products or systems with greater added value, and directing its activities towards creating qualified employment opportunities of economic and social value in the middle space of the innovation system.
With this funding, the award of the ABC CoLAB title will allow the recruitment of many more qualified researchers over the next five years.
ABC CoLAB will be created as a non-profit association, which includes the municipalities of ABC, Loulé and Albufeira, University of the AlgarveAnd ISCTEAnd Portuguese Institute of Hematology and Organ TransplantationVodafone jarataAnd GarvitrPrimivalo, Sea4Us institute of applied nuclear sciences in healthICNAS).
CoLABs aim to promote cooperation between institutions of science and technology, higher education and the economic and social fabric, i.e. companies, hospitals, the health system, cultural institutions and social organizations, as well as the direct and indirect creation of high value-added jobs in Portugal, through the implementation of research and innovation programs geared towards creating economic value and social.
