Compared to the previous month, March saw an increase in revenue of about 1 million euros and 150,000 viewers.
The most watched film between January and March of this year, in Portugal, is Robin Fleischer’s “Uncharted”, which drew 287,000 spectators, followed by Matt Reeves’ “Batman” with 231,000, and “Spider-Men: No Homecoming” John Watts, with a population of 216,000.
Nationally, the most-watched Portuguese film of 2022 was “The Man Who Killed de Quixote” by Terry Gilliam (co-production with France, Spain, Belgium and the United Kingdom), with 6,876 viewers.
According to March data from the ICA, Portugal had 518 cinema screens, an increase of 24 from the previous month, with NOS being the largest exhibitor in the country, with 208 of the total.
An increase in the number of screens occurred in almost the entire country: in the regions of Aveiro (from 11 to 12), Beja (from three to five), Braga (from 39 to 40), Évora (from eight to ten), Guarda (from seven to Eight), Leiria (from 21 to 23), Lisbon (from 135 to 139), Portalegre (from two to four), Porto (from 87 to 89), Santarem (from 13 to 14), Setúbal (from 42 to 43) , Villa Real (nine to ten), and in the autonomous communities of Madeira (from 13 to 14) and Azores (from five to eight).
