Microsoft has tested a lot of changes in Windows 11, especially those in the Insider Program. Novelties appear, but not all of them please users, who have shown their displeasure.
One of the most controversial changes focused on the default browser, which could no longer be changed, locking users into Edge. Now it seems that this scenario has changed and Microsoft finally allows you to select the default browser in a simple way.
At the end of last year, Microsoft made one of the most complicated decisions regarding Windows 11. It stopped giving users the ability to change the default browser, trying to get the most out of using Edge and none of the competitors.
This change ended up creating a wave of protest by users and many tried to find a way around this limitation. It seems that Mozilla managed to get around this limitation, but it was quickly overtaken by Microsoft.
It now appears that the software giant has stepped back and reversed its decision. It has started allowing users to change their default browser again, just as it was before all that change that it brought to Windows 11.
To make this change, users just need to open the Windows 11 Settings app and then choose the Apps option. Here, you have to pick and choose which browser you want to use. Then the default configuration option should already be there.
This change is already provided by Microsoft in Windows 11. It arrived as an optional system update that can be installed by any user. Just look for version 22000.593 which will also be available for Manual installation.
This is a decision that will surely satisfy Windows 11 users. They can finally change their default browser and choose which one they want to use. Of course, Microsoft has not fully opened this system and many files will continue to be forwarded to Edge.
