You might not have noticed, but when you install WhatsApp on your smartphone, there is no option to choose the language within the app. This is because it chooses the language of the operating system automatically. Now, WhatsApp has decided to test an option for the user to choose from around 60 languages on the platform.

According to the site WABetaInfoa portal specialized in application updates, version 2.22.8.3 of WhatsApp beta for Android will provide the user with the option to choose the preferred language to be used in the application.
The function will be inside the “Settings” menu, and by selecting “Application language” it will be possible to select a language from among the 60 options. In the screenshot on the side, you can see what the new function will look like.
According to the portal, the novelty is still under development and should be released in the future. WABetaInfo notes that similar functionality is already available in some countries, such as India, a country with 20 official languages and more than 1,600 dialects.
Share large files via WhatsApp
In addition to allowing language selection, WhatsApp should also begin testing to share media files of up to 2GB in size. The novelty should be tested with a small group of people in Argentina, according to information from WABetaInfo. The site still does not know if WhatsApp has plans to launch the function in other countries or increase the testing pool.
The portal was able to access a screenshot of iOS in English, but the information indicates that the option will only be available to users of the WhatsApp beta testing program for Android in Argentina. Currently, media files larger than 100MB cannot be shared.
New voice function
Another new recently released by WABetaInfo is enabling the audio feature for users of the beta app for Android. As a new tool, the user will be able to play the audio even when it is on a different screen. In other words, to hear the voice message, simply press the trigger button and go to other sessions in the app, including other conversation windows.

This is now available to the voicemail player in a beta update for both web and iOS. Now messenger enables the same feature for beta testers on Android.
Until then, if the user leaves a conversation while the audio is playing, the message will stop automatically. The procedure is for the citizen to have greater control over reproduction.
To check if the news has reached you, simply open a voice message in the app’s chat and then leave the page. If a new player bar appears, the feature is enabled. It is worth noting that the function is not limited to audio notes, but can also be applied to the input and output of audio files that have received some changes recently.
Recently, the app began to automatically recognize forwarded messages more than four times, although it was unable to determine their content due to end-to-end encryption.
Fighting fake news
WhatsApp is also implementing resources to combat fake news in Brazil in an election year. The functionality is in the testing phase in the beta version of WhatsApp. The goal is to combat misinformation, preventing the same message from being forwarded to several groups at once.
The user can currently share the same message in up to five groups. However, the intention is to reduce this limit to one, such that the user has to manually copy the message to perform the forwarding.
According to the information, the limit that the feature will impose should reach messaging users soon. However, the app should display the following message: “Forwarded messages can only be sent to a group chat.”
In short, having a person completely repeat the sending of messages manually is expected to discourage the behavior of spreading fake news or inappropriate content.
