Among the various Xbox Game Pass games for March 2022, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy was not only the most relevant, but also the most surprising, as no one expected to see the title published by Square Enix Europe in the catalog so soon.
Details are now emerging about how much Microsoft would have paid the European company to include the title developed by Eidos Montreal in the service. According to analyst David Gibson, Microsoft would have paid between $5 and $10 million.
“Remember, Microsoft paid about $5-10 million to get Guardians of the Galaxy on Game Pass.”
Gibson explained, “For Square Enix, it’s like making $2 per subscriber, when you sell in retail for $29. Well, it’s always profit, but not all publishers can do the same considering the lower cost of Xbox Game Pass”. Twitter share.
The analyst’s talk also began by citing the mysterious Sony project Spartacus which, in his opinion, would not rival Xbox Game Pass while still providing a “disguised service”. The Guardians of the Galaxy reveal remains intriguing, however, and it shows how much Microsoft intends to continue focusing more and more on its service in the near future.
Given that Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy sold out less than expected by Square, the game’s debut on Xbox Game Pass could give the still-popular action-adventure title released in October 2021.
