The UK government has announced new sanctions against seven people linked to Vladimir Putin’s regime. The list also includes businessman Roman Abramovich, a Portuguese national. Chelsea’s owner’s assets will be frozen and travel will be banned. As a result, the club could no longer sell as the Russian president wanted. According to English newspapers, Chelsea have also been banned from selling tickets – only fans who have tickets for the entire season can go to the stadium – and they will not be able to sell shirts or any other commercial items. However, staff, veterans and trainees will continue to receive their salaries. The UK estimates that these sanctions cover GBP 15 billion in assets. Like Abramovich, Oleg Deribaska (a shareholder in the N + group), Rosnapt’s CEO Igor Chechin, and VTB Bank chairman Andrei Gostin are on the list of Russian oligarchy groups enjoying new controls following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Abramovich owns Chelsea and owns part of the capital of the steel mining giants Evros and Nickel and Palladium Norilsk Nickel. A week ago, several millionaires announced they wanted to sell Chelsea, however, denying that surgery would be “urgent”.
In a statement posted on the club’s official website, Abramovich stated that he had decided to sell the club because it was “for the benefit of the club, the fans, the staff and the club’s sponsors and associates,” and advised his team to create a charitable foundation whose proceeds from the sale would be donated.
The businessman claimed Portuguese nationality after claiming his Sebartic descent and seeking national law. The origins of the Portuguese Jewish community have been proven by the Sebard Certification Authority, which has been a partner in recent years. The process began in 2019 and was completed in 2020.
