Tondela reaches a foot and a half in the Portuguese Cup final. Peras beat Mafra 3-0 in the first leg of the semi-finals of the Queen’s competition, in a match held Thursday evening at the Joao Cardoso Stadium, in this way he took a giant step towards Jamor.
After a very positive entry, where he managed to create some situations to score – Pedro Augusto, Thiago Dantas and Daniel dos Anjos started taking action on Renan Braganca’s goal… – Tondilan’s team managed to open the scoring in the 38th minute, with Thiago Dantas, on approaching Goal, swerve into the net. The midfielder, on loan from Benfica, responded in the best way to a pass from Bebeto who, in the meantime, had a deflection in Joey Ferreira.
The supplementary phase ended with the assertion of Tondela’s power and the altruism of Ricardo Souza’s men turned out to be insufficient to reverse the course of events. In this way, in the 66th minute, after a free kick from Bebeto, on the right, Mano Hernando, with a header, increased the competition. Less than ten minutes later, the sentence was read: Bebeto’s pass and Rafael Barbosa and Neto Borges’ pass at the far post made it 3-0.
Near the end, in the 88th minute, nearly 500 Mafra fans present at Tondela were celebrating, but Stevy Okitokandjo’s goal ended up disallowed: VĂtor Ferreira, the match referee, after being alerted by VAR to see photos, reversed the goal. The decision he made, as he considered that the Mafrense striker had missed Ricardo Alves.
With this victory, Tondela ensures a great deal of calm for the second leg, which will take place on April 19 (20.45 hours), at Mafra Municipal Stadium.
