Lionel Messi’s signature set Paris Saint-Germain at a high level when it comes to offensive weapons. With the Argentine superstar joining Mbappe and Neymar, the Parisians have formed a truly brilliant trio in a theory that doesn’t pass onto the pitch.
Because of the various physical problems of Neymar (16 matches / 4 goals) and Messi (22/7), above all, Mauricio Pochettino was only able to launch this trio, which Mbappe (33/22) joined in 11 days. Nine occasions this season and usage is not what was expected. In those nine matches, PSG added up to three out of four defeats this season and managed to win five (they still have two draws).
A performance of 44 per cent contrasts clearly with the 74 per cent of wins when all three don’t appear in the first 11. A problem is faced by Mauricio Pochettino, who appears to have obvious difficulties in combining such offensive power.
