The record represents an important milestone for the reactor known as the “artificial sun”.
Known as the “artificial sun,” the Experimental Superconducting Fusion (EAST) reactor at Tokamak broke its own record in late December.
According to a statement from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the machine was able to maintain a plasma temperature of 120 million degrees Celsius for 1056 seconds.

Earlier in the spring, the record was 101 seconds. The team in charge of the reactor is part of the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (AISPP).
Yuntao Song, general manager of AISPP, said that the team is perfect and the group will meet any difficulty, no matter how difficult.
The record represents an important milestone for the reactor, which is able to partially repeat the process of natural nuclear fusion of a star.
Scientists believe that the result of the experiment can lead to the production of clean and sustainable energy. The key is that the length of the reactor can maintain high temperatures.
The reactions must be self-sustaining and thus ultra-heated plasma can be used to generate them.
However, the strength of the commercial format consolidation is likely far from happening, although experts believe it is coming.
