Taking care of the mind is essential to providing a happier and more productive life. For this reason, the Centro Vida team took advantage of the Janeiro Branco campaign theme, and prepared the environment of unity to promote the importance of caring for mental and emotional health. Corridors and reception have received informational posters and white balloons, in order to draw the attention of patients and caregivers to the subject.
Centro Vida, owned by Uberlândia City Hall, is the first exclusive rehabilitation center for post-Covid-19 patients in Minas Gerais, which is developing procedures to ensure quality care, especially for patients who have been hospitalized for long periods. According to social worker Maria Aparecida Carlos, working on emotional issues is just as important as any other aspect of recovery.
“Many patients arrive with obvious anxiety and depression, out of fear, and a long stay in hospital, after undergoing complex procedures. Many of them have suffered great losses, and they are unemployed. It is essential that they have the appropriate psychological support to continue,” he said.
25-year-old Lucas Gonçalves is one of the patients helped by Centro Vida. After a long period of receiving medical care due to Covid-19, he lost some motor function. But after only a few months of rehabilitation, he has improved significantly. “He arrived here unable to walk and very anxious. The boy’s uncle, Carlos Alberto da Silva, said it was a pleasure to see his development, as he was able to walk, eat alone, smile more, and sleep better.

With a multidisciplinary team, the space is a reference for cardiovascular, respiratory and locomotor rehabilitation for patients who have been diagnosed with Covid-19 and will need follow-up after hospitalization.
The Centro Vida team consists of physiotherapists, speech therapists, social workers, psychologists, doctors and nurses, in order to provide complete monitoring until the patient regains health, social reintegration and quality of life.
The sector that distributes non-invasive mechanical ventilation and oxygen therapy equipment is part of Centro Vida, to facilitate access to families and patients. All referrals to a rehabilitation center are made through a medical referral.
