The municipality announced this Wednesday, the day when the “first stone” of work was laid, the construction of the new health center in Carcavelos, in the municipality of Cascais, is scheduled to be completed in February 2023.
The Cascais City Council said in a statement that the health center in Carcavelos, located on the grounds of the former factory of the Legrand Electric Company, will benefit 25,000 people, and will have four areas in terms of primary health care.
Thus, it will have a family health unit (USF), a permanent service (SP, otherwise known as emergency), a treatment team for addictive and dependence behaviors and a psychiatric service.
The cost of the work is estimated at seven million euros. The project also includes a car park for approximately 270 places and a public space adjacent to the health center “a large yard / garden” with a children’s area, a cafeteria and a space. green and other “multifunctional covered areas,” the municipality revealed.
“More than providing healthcare to the residents, the new Carcavelos Center aims to form a structural component of the urban fabric” and “revitalize the grounds of the former Legrand factory,” according to the Cascais City Council in the Lisbon region.
The municipality said the building will provide “self-production of electricity through photovoltaic panels on the roofs, as well as water heating through solar thermal panels.”
On the former Legrand land, the Alagoa Office & Retail Center is still under construction, “a complex of office, commercial, restaurant and hotel buildings,” as the company describes it on its website. At the beginning of the work, in 2019, some residents protested against the felling of trees and traffic alterations made at that place.
