Brazilian Andrew Parsons was re-elected president of the International Paralympic Committee on Sunday. One candidate, Parsons has been leading the entity since 2017, receiving 98% of the valid vote. The new term extends until 2025. Andrew Parsons has been president of the Brazilian Paralympic Committee and the Paralympic Committee of the Americas, and has held various positions within the Paralympic movement for the past 24 years.

Brazil’s Silvana Fernandez won the gold medal in the men’s 75kg category at the World Paratikondo Championships in Istanbul, Turkey. In total, the country won 7 medals, 1 gold, 1 silver and five bronzes. Seventeen Brazilians participated in the competition.

The women’s soccer teams of Sao Paulo and Flamengo won the opening matches of the Brazil Women’s Cup, which is being held in Santana do Parnaiba, in Sao Paulo. 8 clubs participate in the competition, 6 of them are Brazilian. The second round of the tournament takes place on Tuesday.

The Brazilian artistic gymnastics team won 9 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals at the South American Sports Championships held last weekend in San Juan, Argentina. At the South American Trampoline Gymnastics Championships, in Cochabamba, Bolivia, Brazil won 8 gold, 1 silver, and 5 bronze medals.

This Sunday, Anna Marcella Cunha won the gold in the Israel stage of the World Water Marathon Circuit. Anna Marcella finished the race in 2 hours, 1 minute, 36 seconds and 60 hundredths. In the men’s feud, Brazil ended up missing out on the podium. The best result in the country went to Alain de Carmo, who finished 14th.
