As of today, Fundão is ready to receive users sent by the Department of Psychiatry at the University Hospital Center Cova da Beira to join its ongoing mental health care network.
The protocol was formally drawn up yesterday, between the Cultural Fundão and the Training Assistance Center (CACFF), the regional health department of the center and the Institute of Social Security. A step that was missing to start the project, as stated by CACFF Chairperson, Alcina Cerdeira.
“From today, we have the doors open to start welcoming the people who need these answers, which have been identified by the health cluster, which is already defining the processes to put on the platform, and from there the work begins. We have already taken an earlier path of training people in this area, And we already have the organized spaces, so, at the moment, we have everything ready to move forward with the two responses we’ve agreed to here today.”
It is a self-paced training headquarters for six, and a moderate training headquarters for 16 users. Two responses that will operate in four homes in the city center, also signed with Fundão municipality, which, in the first year of the project, cut the income of the four properties by half.
Continuing mental health care is a path that is just beginning, noted João Redondo, the regional mental health coordinator.
“What is meant by ongoing care is that relational, professional, labor and social skills can be worked on, in order to allow for better integration into the family, into society, or ultimately, into the aging process itself institutionally. What we are trying to do is look at the area and research, As much as possible, all answers can balance needs.”
The project, which is unique in the region and among the first in the network in the central region, will have a multidisciplinary team of 20 professionals.
