The municipalities and the health unit of Alto Minho determine the needs of the sector

In a statement sent today to the newsrooms, the local community (CIM) of Alto Minho, a structure comprising the ten councils in the Viana do Castelo region, said work on the needs survey will be carried out “in conjunction” with ULSAM, and that it “must be completed in the first quarter.” from 2022.

The decision was made on Monday, at a meeting between the president and vice presidents of CIM in Alto Minho and the ULSAM board of directors.

The meeting served to “assess the investment needs of Alto Minho, at the primary health care level, and its potential inclusion in the Portuguese Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).

The CIM President of Alto Minho and the Mayor of Melgaço, Manoel Batista, and the two Vice-Presidents, Vasco Ferraz and Augusto Marinho, the Mayors of Ponte de Lima and Ponte da Barca, mentioned in the memo, consider them to be “essential to identifying these investments so that, in a clear way, projects with High financial and technical maturity.

According to the mayors, the “key goals” projected by the government in the program performance report in the area of ​​”primary health care reform” are “largely in line with the investments previously identified and discussed at the meeting”, at the Santa Luzia Hospital in Viana do Castelo.

Next Monday, in Ponte de Lima, CIM headquarters in Alto Minho, at a meeting of the International Council of Municipalities “the terms of structuring these between the ULSAM management team and the ten mayors will be set in the Viana do Castelo investment proposals aimed at strengthening the capacity of the National Health Service (NHS)” at the sub-regional and local level.

According to Alto Minho CIM, PRR funds for primary health care reform, in the field of primary health care, amount to 466 million euros.

ULSAM consists of two hospitals: Santa Luzia, in Viana do Castelo, and Conde de Bertiandos, in Ponte de Lima.

It also includes 12 health centres, a public health unit and two convalescents, serving a resident population of 231,488 in the ten municipalities of the Viana do Castelo region and some neighboring residents of the Braga region.
