The IKEA store in Aalborg, Denmark, was a ridiculous sight – last Wednesday, six customers and 25 employees of the establishment were stranded by a snowstorm and forced to spend the night inside the building.
The store manager, Peter Elmoz, came to the Extra Bladet newspaper, Quoted from Sky News, i.e. customers and employees I slept in a family in the store: “We slept on show furniture and in our model rooms on the first floor, where we had beds, mattresses, and sofa beds.”
Peter Elmos revealed, For Nordjyske newspaperWho had no doubts about his decision when he realized that the weather would not allow customers to leave the store:
We couldn’t put them there and shut the door behind them at eight at night. of course not. So, of course, they stayed here, and we found them a place to stay tonight,” said the manager.
The employee also mentioned that the people who were trapped in the store had passed by “Fun night”Watching TV and eating, taking advantage of the “choice of family they’ve always wanted to experience.”
According to Danish TV station DR, some employees of a toy store next to the IKEA store ended up staying overnight there. One female staff member, Michelle Barrett, thanked for the hospitality:
“It was much better than sleeping in the car. [A loja] The atmosphere was nice and warm, and we were glad they let us in. […] “We laugh at the situation, because we’ll probably never go through something like this again,” Michelle said.
Staff and customers sleep in separate areas of the store, in order to ensure a proper distance from the Covid-19 pandemic, according to Nordjyske.
