Former US President Donald Trump tested positive for covid-19 on September 26, three days before the first debate with Joe Biden, in light of last year’s presidential election. The information was revealed by Mark Meadows, his former chief of staff, in a book to be published next week that The Guardian has access to.
In “The Chief’s Chief,” Meadows explains that while candidates have been known to “test negative for the virus 72 hours before the debate begins… nothing is stopping Trump from participating in the debate.” However, Tromo was later submitted to the debate. To a new test before the debate, this result was negative.
Remember that on October 2, Donald Trump announced that he had contracted the new coronavirus. At the time, the White House said that the then-president revealed the positive result an hour after receiving it, and on the same day he was transferred to a Washington hospital.
Donald Trump, in a brief statement issued after this news broke, described Meadows’ allegations as “fake news.”

Asked by CNN about information regarding the former president’s positive test, Joe Biden replied, “I don’t think about the former president.”
Anthony Fauci, who was (and still is) part of the US government’s pandemic response team, commented on Meadows’ revelations, noting that he “was not aware of Trump’s positive or negative test” prior to the discussion.
It now appears that Mark Meadows is a target for Trump. Not only did the former chief of staff make this revelation, he said Tuesday that he would be cooperating with the House committee investigating the January 6 attack on the Capitol.
