The Lakers just announced that LeBron James will not face the Kings on Tuesday night due to the NBA’s health and safety protocols against Covid-19.
The information was provided by several sources on Twitter.
According to knowledgeable Shams Charania, LeBron James will stay out of court for at least 10 days, or unless he returns two negative test results 24 hours later.
If LeBron can return within 10 days, he must only return in the match against the Thunder on December 10, and thus lose, facing the Clippers, Celtics and Grizzlies.
Avery Bradley is the new injured Lakers player
Just when the Lakers seem to have started emptying their medical department, the injury witch strikes again. Points guard Avery Bradley will not play Tuesday’s game against the Kings due to a sprained right thumb.
The team discovered the sprain after an MRI scan and will run some tests on the player to assess the injury once the team returns to Los Angeles.
Bradley, who started the team’s last 16 games, makes the Lakers use another different pentathlon.
With Bradley out, it’s not clear who will take his place. Austin Reeves could be an option to give the team another defender, a pitcher and the drive of the ball. Wayne Ellington can also supply the team with some shots, and the owner of Monk can make another shot in the starting lineup.
The Lakers and Kings face off in the early hours of Tuesday through Wednesday.
Kendrick Noon is a long way from returning to the Lakers
On Monday, when Trevor Ariza spoke about his impending return to the ankle surgery that kept him out of the squad at the start of the season, he mentioned another player the Lakers have lost since training camp: Kendrick Noone, who has a bone marrow. A bruise on his knee.
“I bring a completely different element to this team, so hopefully when I can play, Kendrick will be able to come back and play – which gives us another different element to this team – the things we can do, the little things we can help,” Ariza said.
But while the good news on Monday was that Trevor Ariza is close to making a comeback, it also showed that it could be a little longer before Kendrick Noone returns from the Lakers. Which player will be reassessed within three weeks of his injury is anyone’s guess and it looks like he won’t be back in the squad anytime soon.
On the last episode of the “The Lowe Post” podcast, host Zack Lowe and insider Dave McMenamin reported that they heard Noon was “not close” to returning from the bone bruise that left him out of the entire season:
McMenamin: “Now, regarding Nun, I’m told he’s not close to making a comeback, but he’s moving in the right direction.”
Lowe: “I’ve heard the same thing, not coming back anytime soon.”
McMenamin: “It’s a kick to stop the team, you use your mid-season exception to catch him and you still haven’t gotten a minute out of it. And there’s a feeling within the team that a combination of Monk, Talen Horton-Tucker and Nunn can give them that kind of The dynamic game, second look they haven’t had in any of the teams for the past two seasons, but they haven’t. We haven’t put it in. This team is in practice yet.”
It’s fair to ask when they’ll be able to see this team pay off, if at all. Nunn has lost over a month now, and the only specific update we received from the team was Frank Vogel who said the Lakers medical team “has decided that it was safe, given the area of the knee that the injury occurred in, that he needed to stay for a while.”
Given how careful the team is, the coaching staff should care about the player, but we’ve never heard of Nunn making any progress. All this leaves great doubts about when we will see the player on the field.
