Canary Islands regional government sources told Effie that the affected area extends all the way between the villages of La Laguna and Tazacorte and is adjacent to the boundary of the previously evacuated ocean.
Those affected will have until 17:00 (the same time in Lisbon) to evacuate their homes, with their belongings and pets, and go to the designated meeting point, located in the town of Los Llanos.
Persons unable to receive their belongings will be allowed to do so in the following days, gradually and with accompaniment, as long as security conditions permit.
On Wednesday evening, another evacuation took place, affecting about 15 residents.
Previously, the advance of a new landslide that formed in recent days north of the main road had evacuated another 800 people from the La Laguna neighborhood.
In all, the eruption of Cumbre Vieja, which began on September 19, has already led to the evacuation of about 7,000 people, some of whom lost everything they had in the lava flow.
A total of 60 earthquakes have been recorded on La Palma Island since 00:00 today, one of which has a magnitude of 4.5, the highest it has been felt so far since the eruption began 26 days ago.
According to the Spanish National Geographic Institute (IGN), seismic activity increased in the last hours in La Palma, after it decreased slightly on Wednesday.
The island of La Palma, with a population of about 85,000, is currently experiencing its third volcanic eruption in a century, after San Juan in 1949 and Tinguya in 1971.
