Health professionals have reported that people go to health centers to try to steal proof of vaccination without being vaccinated. In one case, a man who claimed to be military threatened a nursing technician to administer the vaccine without the vaccination fluid.
When a person is vaccinated, before the vaccine is applied, proof of vaccination is provided so that the person can check whether the data is correct, and this is the time when most cases occur.
“We give the voucher in the person’s hand so that they can check the data, and when they had them, these people tried to evade the unit with a paper in hand (…) In groups of health professionals, we receive daily reports of these attempts,” a health professional completed.
The Municipal Health Service (SMS) reported that since the beginning of last September, Four people managed to escape from the sites without getting vaccinated. Rio’s health minister, Daniel Soranes, said the situation is unfortunate.
“It is unfortunate to see such situations. The first thing a person does when he arrives at the vaccination center is to inform the CPF. Through the CPF, we will also apply the fines that have been exceeded with the vaccination card. Also, using the CPF, we will record the recurrence. This situation is very sad and no We expect to see more scenes like this.”
A man said he was in the army so he wouldn’t get vaccinated
One of the most serious cases was the case of a man who identified himself as a military man and insulted and threatened the professionals in the health center after he was unable to obtain the receipt without being vaccinated.
“During this moment of preparing for the vaccine, he said that he did not want to take the vaccine, and that he was only able to send the shot because there are people watching the vaccine and he does not want to harm me. I said that this is not true, that we do not. The health workers said that They are not there to be able to simulate vaccination.
“That’s when he saw that he wouldn’t be able to use his arguments to convince me not to vaccinate him and he started getting angry if he got angry. He said he was in the army and that I was just putting a needle in him and that I didn’t need to send that liquid to him. I told him it was his right not to get vaccinated, but he wouldn’t be able to do it in the health unit in Rio de Janeiro,” he added.
Forging official documents is a crime
Such cases grew this week after the city government began requiring cariocas and tourists to provide proof of vaccination to enter places of mass use, such as gyms, theaters, cinemas and tourist attractions. The measure went into effect on Wednesday (15), and most people feel more secure with it.
In addition to violating the public health measure at the time of the pandemic, whoever escaped with a vaccination card without being vaccinated is considered to have forged an official document, a crime stipulated in Article 297 of the Penal Code with a penalty of up to two. And half a year.
In Rio, the city council and the mayor approved another law that stipulates a R$1,000 fine for anyone attempting to do so. The name of the offender who does not pay the fine will be recorded in the actual debt to the municipality. Public agents who engage in fraud will receive an administrative fine of R$1,500.
“We, as health professionals, believe the vaccine provides. We are seeing this in the results of the decline in Covid cases. If you experience this today, it is a setback,” one health professional said.
