And if we go back to July 2019, “passenger traffic decreased by 55.8% and freight and mail traffic by 10.3%.”
The National Institute of Statistics also reveals that from the beginning of the year to July, “France was the country of origin and main destination of flights.” In the “top three”, despite “significantly fewer passengers”, they come after the United Kingdom and Germany, respectively.

Between January and July, there was also a 24.8% increase in cargo and mail handled at national airports.
Cargo traffic at Lisbon Airport accounts for 68,500 tons, 30% more than the same period last year, 68% of the total.
In all, the remaining airports grew by 15%.
In July alone, 15,600 commercial aircraft landed at national airports, an increase of 75.8% over the same period in the previous year, equivalent to 2.8 million passengers (+116.1%), including departures, arrivals and direct connections, and the movement of 16,500 (+71.9%) cargo tons and mail.
Compared to July 2019, there was a 33.2% decrease in the number of aircraft landed, 55.8% in the number of passengers, and 10.3% in freight and mail traffic.
In the same month, 74.8% of passengers who disembarked at national airports corresponded to international traffic (81.9% in the same period the previous year), with the majority (66.3%) arriving from airports on the European continent.
In contrast, with regard to sailing passengers, 69.8% correspond to international traffic (75.7% in the same period of the previous year), as their destination was, above all, airports on the European continent (59.1%).
