French Prime Minister Jean Castix announced, on Wednesday, that 40 million French people have already been vaccinated against Covid-19, with the aim of vaccinating 50 million people with the first dose by the end of August.
Prime Minister Jan Casteks shared on his Twitter account: “They are protecting their neighbours, and they are keeping our hospital system from saturating.”
Thus, the French government announced the number of people who have been fully vaccinated, noting that there are already more than 46 million people who have been vaccinated with at least the first dose, thus approaching the goal of 50 million set by the government before the end of the summer vacation.
At the same time, the fourth wave continues to increase the number of cases in the country, as there are now more than two thousand patients with severe forms of Covid-19 in hospitals in intensive care units.
In total, there are 10,336 people in French hospitals due to illness, 117 more than the day before.
In the past 24 hours, 112 people died of Covid-19 and 28,405 new cases were discovered.
Covid-19 has caused at least 4,381,911 deaths worldwide, among the more than 208.5 million new coronavirus infections recorded since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the latest report from Agence France-Presse.
