In Beira Interior, 15 health centers will be open on weekends and 11 will be open after 8pm on weekdays. This information came in a statement by the Ministry of Health.
Health centers in Fundão, Belmonte, Penamacor, Mantejas, Gouveia, Sabogal, Idanha a Nova, Oleros, Proença a Nova, Certa, Silorico da Pera, Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, Fornos de Algodres, Meda and Pinhal.
After 8 p.m., 11 health centers will operate in the area: Mantejas, Gouveia, Sabogal, Figueria de Castelo Rodrigo, Idanha a Nova, Meda, Oleros, Pinhal, Proença a Nova, Trancoso and Serta.
In the document, the Ministry of Health emphasizes that “primary care plays a crucial role in responding to the population,” but recalls “the importance of knowing alternatives to emergency services in hospitals and contacting SNS24 in advance to obtain advice and referral to the most appropriate health unit.”
Across the country there are 42 health centers that operate after 8pm on weekdays, and 189 that operate on weekends.
“It is essential that users use recommended levels of care, especially in times of increased demand, such as what we are currently experiencing as a result of increased respiratory infections and cold weather, which can compensate for chronic diseases,” the document can be read.
The Ministry of Health also reveals that health centers provided about 2.5 million consultations during the month of December, after providing more than 50,000 consultations during the long weekend of Christmas and New Year.
“In recent days, there has also been an increase in calls to SNS24: 62 thousand between December 27 and January 2, an increase of 12% compared to the previous seven days.”
