Jose de Fora It has two important healthcare buildings in a state of neglect. One is the Zona da Mata Regional Hospital, whose construction began in 2010 and will serve several cities in the region, and the other is PAM Andradas, which is still closed and without medical assistance.
The PAM Andradas building, where several consultations have already taken place and was a vaccination point in the city, is occupied by the homeless who have invaded the place.
Neighboring merchants claim insecurity due to burglaries carried out near the building. Merchant Jose Jeronimo said he has already asked the city council several times to carry out maintenance and that insecurity remains.
“We reached out to the city council and asked them for permission so we could clean up the place, and they didn’t authorize us and we continue with this insecurity.”
PAM Andradas has been unemployed since 2018. The City of Juiz de Fora has reported that the Federation is responsible for the maintenance of the site. The Municipal Health Board submitted a document to the report stating that the responsibility for maintaining the place rests with the executive branch.
The report called on the military police to obtain information about the robberies in the area, and no return was made until the closing of this report.
The regional hospital is designed to serve residents of about 100 cities in the vicinity of Juiz de Fora, but works are still on hold and, according to the municipal health department, due to a lack of funding.
In July last year, the governor of Minas Gerais, Romeo Zema (Novo), and the mayor of Juiz de Fora, Margarida Salomao (PT), announced an agreement to resume work at the regional hospital, but so far work has stopped.
With full sanitary units, Juiz de Fora handicapped the hospital and PAM
At the end of June last year, G1 showed the start of processing at ALMG for a bill (PL) setting out funds for the resumption of operations of paralyzed regional hospitals in the country. The amount of a billion-dollar agreement between Vale and the MG government provides for transfers to various sectors.
To discuss this issue and views, the municipality of Juiz de Fora held a public hearing, where the Secretary of State for Health, Fabio Paqueretti, stated that the expectation is to launch the bidding process for the management of the unit.
