With the influenza (flu) vaccination campaign extended throughout the state of São Paulo until July 31, ABC continues its work in an attempt to attract the population, so far with only 546.6 thousand vaccinated. Coverage is still very low, up to 37% of the target audience.
To date, Ribeirão Pires has applied 29,562 influenza doses, and the population of the vaccine is 46,614 people, so only 46.19% have been immunized.
As of June, 154,775 doses of vaccine have been administered in Santo André. The priority group consists of 283,631 people, and 104,368 are receiving doses, a coverage rate of 37%. Another 50,407 doses have been applied to the general public after approval by the Ministry of Health, which has a target coverage rate of 90%.
All 34 Basic Health Units (UBSs) offer the flu vaccine, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., upon request. The only exception is the Cidade São Jorge unit, which is undergoing renovations.
Santo André has implemented several measures to increase the population’s access to vaccination coverage, such as a vaccination booth in Feira da Fraternidade and Arraial Solidário, vaccination in Long-Permanentence Institutions, vaccination of bedridden patients, supply of influenza vaccine to hospitals and UPAs to increase coverage of health professionals, in Weekends we have two drop off points in Craisa and at Carrefour Pedro Américo open from 8am to 6pm.
Of the 78,693 people, 34,878 people have been vaccinated in São Caetano, which is 44.3%. In São Bernardo, 197,884 vaccine doses have been applied out of 315,857 eligible to campaign. From April 10 to June 28, Diadema applied 86,713 doses of the flu vaccine. The vaccine will be available at 20 UBSs, Monday through Friday, to people from six months of age (extended year).
To increase adherence, Diadema is developing several strategies to expand vaccination coverage, for both adults and children, including active research, use of a sound vehicle, and vaccination without appointment and on demand. City Hall also conducts out-of-walls, in-school and D-Day vaccinations with units open some weekends, as well as raising awareness about the importance of vaccination at events promoted by management and on City Hall’s social media.
The municipality held weekly thematic meetings, within the “Saúde no Território” programme, with the community on the health needs of the population and also to raise awareness of the importance of participation in health care. The municipal health board discusses the risk of disease re-emergence so that the department, along with residents’ involvement, can raise awareness in places such as churches, schools, and neighborhood or neighborhood associations.
